A real estate developer with San Francisco’s Golden Properties, LLC, Paul Iantorno has participated in restoring and renovating buildings from the turn of the 20th century. In addition, Paul Iantorno has helped lead the development of many residential condominiums in San Francisco, including a building near Hayes and Green streets that bears a mural of Cesar Chavez by famed artist Shepard Fairey.
Perhaps best known for his artistic portrait of Barack Obama titled “Hope,” used in the former president’s 2008 campaign, Shepard Fairey is a prolific portrait artist who regularly exhibits work. One of his recent exhibitions was at the Los Angeles gallery known as the Library Street Collective. The new work, presented under the title “Damaged,” marked Fairey’s first solo exhibition in his hometown of Los Angeles in 10 years.
“Damaged” invites viewers to reflect on societal problems that they might be tempted to ignore if not confronted with them directly. The artist believes the exhibition portrays an honest look at the nation’s current turbulent political climate and hopes that viewers take from it renewed motivation to contribute to positive societal change through engagement and advocacy.
